module one: flatness vs projectIon: the flower

trIPTYch

This is a triptych of a geometrical field.

These 3 views demonstrate a linear   progression of the 2D interpretation of the original polaroid photograph. The process reads left to right and communicates the selection and development of the smaller more rounded and organic shapes both in the foreground and background, while also displaying the omission of the longer, thinner, vine and stem like forms.

This creates greater visual weight towards the bottom of the frame, indicating a hierarchy going from bottom to top, evident in the 2D form. This triptych additionally reads as a single work, developed and read in unison that indicates and highlights the most visually interesting and cohesive elements of the scene.

The first module was focused on flatness vs projection and bringing the 2D into a 3D field, especially effectively conveying views from both a 2D flat and 3D Isometric perspective. This module was difficult since it was the first assignment and I was experimenting with using Rhino for the first time, for me a lot of the focus was on learning how to use the technologies and tools effectively to create the desired vision from the initial image. One element i enjoyed from this module was analysing the polaroid image and selecting certain elements to develop further, this helped me learn how to isolate elements within the 2D form and then develop these into a 3D field, Overall, i enjoyed this module very much despite it being initially challenging.
